About PIP

Forty Years. One Vision. Every Layer of Your IT.

PIP began in 1986 in Crows Nest, supplying terminals, printers and support to the mainframe and UNIX businesses that defined Sydney’s early information technology market. As personal computers replaced terminals, the company grew with them — and by the early 1990s had established its head office at the Pymble Corporate Centre on Sydney’s North Shore, where it remains today.

The Infrastructure Decision

In 1995 PIP made the structural decision that still defines it. Rather than reselling another provider’s internet, PIP built its own — a national internet network and a Sydney datacentre that has operated continuously ever since. From that foundation the company grew significantly, adding managed IT services, private cloud hosting, and voice, all running on infrastructure PIP owns. That single choice is why PIP can stand behind every layer of a client’s technology.

Microsoft Partner, Proxmox Partner, Full-Stack Provider

As a Sydney IT company with four decades of operational history, PIP has navigated every major shift — mainframe to PC, ADSL to NBN, on-premises servers to cloud solutions and cloud services, and traditional support to AI-integrated managed services. PIP has been a Microsoft partner since the ’90s, is an HP hardware reseller, and is an Australian Proxmox partner. The company has embraced new technologies and a new generation of engineers, but its original vision is unchanged. New clients begin with a full system audit, documentation, backup verification and security assessment — the goal is a seamless transition for the business and its staff before support begins.

Why PIP

Five Reasons Sydney Businesses Choose PIP.

Most companies in Sydney resell someone else’s infrastructure. PIP owns it — and that ownership changes everything about how the service is delivered, supported, and held accountable.

Full-Stack Ownership — No Third-Party Blame

PIP owns the internet network, the datacentre, the voice platform and the managed IT service. When an issue spans connectivity and IT, PIP owns the problem entirely — no carrier escalation, no vendor finger-pointing.

Single Provider — One Agreement, One Team

IT, internet, cloud and voice from a single support provider means one team that understands the whole environment. PIP’s service management model puts the people who manage every layer one phone call away.

24/7 Managed Support — Not Overflow

PIP’s managed support and proactive monitoring run around the clock — not overflow routing to a third-party call centre. The engineers taking support calls already know the client’s systems, configurations and history.

Enterprise-Grade for Sydney SMBs

PIP delivers enterprise-level infrastructure, tools and processes at an SMB cost structure. The same monitoring systems, security platforms and technical capability serve a 10-person Sydney business and a 400-seat operation alike.

Australian Data — No Offshore Exposure

Client data is hosted and managed in PIP’s Sydney Datacentre — Australian soil, Australian jurisdiction. For businesses with data protection obligations, that’s structural, not optional. No offshore cloud exposure.

Dedicated Account Ownership

Every client is assigned an account manager and a senior engineer who consistently deliver continuity and deep knowledge of the environment — not a rotating queue. Professional services, with people who stay.

The PIP difference

One Provider vs. the Usual Setup.

Most Sydney businesses stitch together an ISP, a cloud host, a phone company and an IT firm that resells all three. Here’s what changes when one provider owns the lot.

Owned infrastructure

The Infrastructure Behind Every PIP Service.

Four Layers. One Provider.

PIP’s Sydney Datacentre has run continuously since 1995 — colocation, private cloud, hosting, backup and disaster recovery built on thirty years of investment. PIP’s national internet network delivers connections from home NBN to enterprise fibre, and PIP’s voice platform hosts PBX and VoIP in the same facility. No other provider in Sydney operates all four layers from owned infrastructure.

Why Ownership Changes the Support Model

When one provider owns the connectivity, the compute, the storage and the voice systems, there is complete visibility across the client environment and no boundary where responsibility is handed off. That is what lets PIP diagnose faster, secure data end to end, and keep operations running — data security and uptime treated as one continuous responsibility, not four separate contracts.

IT consulting

IT Consulting & Technology Solutions for Sydney Businesses.

Strategic IT Consulting as Part of the Managed Service

PIP’s IT consulting services help Sydney businesses align technology decisions with real business objectives — not just keeping systems running, but advising when to adopt new technology, when to hold back, and how to turn IT spend into measurable business value. IT consulting is built into every managed services engagement: the same senior engineers and account managers who run the day-to-day also provide the strategic advice, so there is no separate consulting division that has never seen your environment. Unlike consulting firms that bill for a roadmap and disappear, PIP’s consultants stay accountable for the outcome — covering cloud migration strategy, Microsoft 365 optimisation, cybersecurity assessments, IT infrastructure planning and digital transformation. The result is expert advice and tailored solutions that help a business improve efficiency, manage risk, and stay ahead through long-term digital growth.

Technology Solutions Across Every Industry

As a leading IT consulting company in Sydney, PIP works across industries — financial services, healthcare, legal, construction and professional services — each with different technology needs and compliance requirements. Where many it consultants offer either strategy or delivery, PIP’s consulting services and managed delivery come from one team, applying disciplined risk management and clear business goals to every project. For Sydney organisations weighing a new platform, a cloud migration, or a security uplift, PIP provides the technology consulting and the hands to implement it — one consulting partner from advice through to live operation.

Who PIP works with

Built for Sydney Businesses of Every Size.

PIP takes a holistic approach across two kinds of client, with a deep understanding of what each needs. Services are designed to scale with the business — no change of provider as you grow.

Segment 01 · 10–100 staff

Small & Medium Businesses — IT Without the Overhead

With no internal IT team, someone usually carries the IT burden alongside their real job — or IT is handled reactively, after something breaks. PIP replaces that with a complete managed IT service for a predictable per-user monthly cost and competitive pricing.

  • 24/7 helpdesk, proactive monitoring, patching and onsite support
  • Strategic IT advice and support plans matched to business needs
  • Scales from five staff upward across various industries
Segment 02 · larger organisations

Larger Organisations — Specialist Capability on Demand

For larger businesses with internal staff, PIP augments rather than replaces — filling capability gaps in virtualisation, cybersecurity, compliance and infrastructure where in-house resources hit their limit. PIP handles the complex needs the internal team can’t, and provides the infrastructure it relies on.

  • A specialist layer alongside existing internal teams
  • Agreed service levels, reporting cadences and escalation paths
  • Project delivery and infrastructure for business sizes up to enterprise

FAQ

IT Company Sydney — FAQ.

By revenue, Australia’s largest IT businesses are global professional services and consulting firms — Accenture, DXC Technology, IBM Australia, Capgemini and Deloitte — chasing government contracts and ASX-listed enterprises. For a Sydney SMB, global revenue isn’t the useful measure. Local presence, infrastructure ownership, response time and breadth of IT services matter far more. PIP has owned and operated its infrastructure since 1986, and that operational continuity and local accountability count for more day to day than the size of a consulting firm.

Most lists of top IT companies mix product giants like Microsoft and Apple with professional services firms and managed service providers — different businesses entirely. An enterprise transformation programme and ongoing managed IT services for a 50-person Sydney business are not the same engagement. For managed IT services, onsite support, cloud hosting and voice, the key factors to weigh are infrastructure ownership, technical capability, support model and local presence. Comparing those honestly is how a business makes an informed decision — not by chasing a global ranking.

Global firms with Sydney operations include Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Salesforce and Atlassian. Sydney is a major hub for technology — the leading innovation centre in the Southern Hemisphere, with a tech workforce of over 330,000 — alongside a deep base of IT consulting firms and managed service providers serving businesses across various industries. For IT services, infrastructure and managed support, though, the relevant companies in Sydney are those with engineers on the ground and the infrastructure to back their service. PIP has operated from Sydney, Australia since 1986, owns its own datacentre, and delivers technology solutions across the city’s business community.

The “Big 7” or “Magnificent 7” are global product and platform companies — Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, NVIDIA and Tesla — whose market caps reflect software and hardware scale, not IT services delivery. Choosing a full-service IT company or managed IT consulting service for a Sydney business runs on very different criteria: breadth of IT services, infrastructure ownership, onsite and desk support, cybersecurity depth, project management and local accountability. As a leading provider on all of those, PIP delivers managed IT services, internet, private cloud hosting, voice and IT equipment — all from Sydney, all from owned infrastructure.
